A Quarter of a Century

The title explains itself. So, yours truly here is a quarter of a century old.

Another year wiser (I hope!) from last year, I had my birthday just somewhere early of this week. I was away from home for some work course. Spent a good alone time reflecting on the past 25 years that has gone by over a glass of wine in a hotel lobby.

I would not be able to recall memories from those way way younger days. But of the process of growing up, I will have to give credit to my beloved parents for raising me to be the person I am today. Not perfect, I have my flaws as well but I guess that makes me who I am today. It has always been the mother and the father that always looked out for me through the many many years. And they ain't stopping yet! :) I will always be daddy's and mummy's little girl regardless of the age.

Of recent years life events, there have been decisions that I am not entirely proud of. Saying that, I would not say that I regret them. Like a saying goes, I regret not the things I did wrong, but doing the right things to the right people. Without those moments of shame and pain, I guess I would not appreciate some great lessons that I took along with them; karma is a bitch. Not that I never believed in karma, but I never really gave deep thought of how bitchy karma can be. Haha! Now that I know, I have learned to do unto others like how I would like to be treated and vice versa. Of course, there have been events that were out of my control that probably were inevitable. I guess, God has greater planning for the days ahead. Things that seems like end of the world back then, I somehow got through it. Some things have changed along the course; heart toughened up, relationship changes.

I do not deny that sometimes I wish that certain incidences never happened so that those heartbreaks could have been avoided. Most of the time though, I am grateful that they did happen cause they showed me the people who stood by me. People who truly loved me for who I am, in good times and in bad. Thank you for showing me that I am still worthy to be loved, when I was at low points. Betrayal was painful but having a friend that was so so supportive and constantly reminding you that you are love, I guess those experiences were somehow worthwhile. And thank you dear friend, for still being here for me till this day though I know I have failed and disappointed you many times though at times I do have doubts that I am not worthy of your love and friendship.

Along these moments as well, I have been blessed with a wonderful job that I am truly passionate about. Coming to two years of working, I have met many new friends as well as learned many new things throughout. I have to thank the bank for giving me many opportunities to grow myself. It does seem to me that I am on the right track of my career path and I pray and hope that this would blossom into something more wonderful.

Above all, I would like to give a big shout out to the Almighty One above. Without Him, without faith, I might not even have made it up to this day.  Amen.

On the side note, I want to list out 25 things I am grateful for. But...... I shall leave that for the next post.

Till next time.

Yours truly.

Popularity

In the end, it is still a popularity contest. Be it in high school, or workplace. There I thought that things changes when you get to the working world where people are grown up; more mature.

It is actually rather disappointing when you realize that popularity counts regardless you are in your uniform or not. Perhaps, this is called social skill? (Haha!) Well, I don't think I am the only one feeling this. Seen people post about similar things in my Facebook feeds where people rant out their frustration over something famously known as 'office polictics'.

Sometimes, I couldn't help but to wonder if this so called social/people skill is much more important than your real work. If that is the case, why bother working so hard? Some people who seems to have 'better' social skills gets what you think you deserve whereby you feel you put your heart and soul yet they wouldn't matter if you do not have the mentioned skill, or mixing with the right people, or so they say.

Not that I am complaining about my workplace, just a moment of epiphany. This is reality, this is life. Suck up to it! (This should not stop you from giving your all in everything you do though)

Just saying.

Yours truly.

Differences

I was driving to work yesterday morning when something uttered out from the radio station I tuned into that caught my attention. It was long and lengthy but what I could gather from the entire thing was summed up into this:

"Appreciate the difference in others as we are all human who are unique in our own way. When you learn to do that, you would see more goodness in others."

I couldn't help but to agree more on that. I have always been a firm believer about us humankind are difference individuals that are made unique. A pair of twins might look the same, might think very very very similarly but there will always be something that made each individual special just by being who they are.

I think it is just human's nature to think that we are right all the time. Having that, some might even think that others that do not share the same thinking like them are just wrong. That shouldn't be that case isn't it? It is when we can accept that other people have the right to think that they are right for being who they are also just like we think that it is perfectly fine for us to be who we are.

Hence, the whole I reminded myself to learn to accept the differences in others to see others in a better limelight. It is only then that we would be able to see others in a different limelight, hence making this world a better place to live in.

Make love, not war.

Peace.

Yours truly.

Vote

I have never had much to say when it comes to politics. To me, all politics is such a boring topic to be discussed. They are all corrupted, all dirty.

The 13th General Election is soaring near. Everyone is talking about who to vote and the good and bads of respective political party. Well for me, they are all the same. Not changing my opinion that one is no cleaner than the other. But I guess this time round, I felt I had the responsibility as the citizen of this country to cast my vote.

Everyone has the choice of their own. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Everyone has the freedom to pick the ruling party. For my rule of thumb, it's simple. If you prove yourself worthy, my vote goes to you. I simply think that politicians should know that the power is in the hand of the people. The people should know that the power is in their hand. So if the people is not satisfied with any ruling, we, the people has the power to change as and when we want. It is time to step up and show the people power. That is what democary is all about anyway.

Changes to might lead to something good or something bad. A change in the government might affect many things. But would we know if the changes would have do us good or bad if we never had the courage to take the first step?

Vote. The power is in your hand. You would never know what one vote could change. Also, let's agree to disagree if our opinion differs.

Yours truly.

Young Maybanker

It is not a big secret anymore that I am currently working with Maybank. It has been more than a year now since I joined this organization and things are working pretty well for me.

Just last weekend, I was in KL for the Maybank Awards Night held at PWTC where I was one of the nominee for the "Young Maybanker" award. Well, I did not win anything that night but I would have to say I couldn't be any more honoured to be selected one of the nominee for that award that was given for the very first time this year. Knowing where I am standing right now is definitely giving me the boost to work even harder to improve myself further.

Did not come back with an award but I did return home with photos taken with some of Maybank honourable people ;)

Top: Tan Sri Dato' Megat Zaharuddin Megat Mohd Nor (Chairman)
Bottom:
Dato' Sri Abdul Wahid Omar (President & CEO)

2nd from left: Datuk Lim Hong Tat (Head of Community Financial Services)
3rd from left: Puan Nora Manaf (Head of Group Human Capital)

So, the two hunks are the other two nominees for the same category of award and we are all from the same Branch Management Entry Level Pipeline (BMELP) programme under different rollouts. BMELP rocks! Go tiger, go tiger!

Month of reds

January is over and here comes February. Month of love. Month of prosperity.

Started 2013 with a bang. Went to KL twice for work. First time round was breakfast with PCEO of the company and second trip was an assessment they called Hogan Business Reasoning Inventory followed by a presentation to fellow management staff. During presentation, they had the full profile of the participants which was pretty scary. Till now, I still don't know what were we assessed for. Finger crossed.

Coming up next would be the month full of red hearts and lanterns and ang pau everywhere. Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year is just around the corner. So this month is suppose to be filled with love and prosperity. Let's just see if mine is filled with love and prosperity :)

Meanwhile, I recently celebrated the 25th Silver Wedding Anniversary for Dad and Mum with family and friends. Been planning it for 3-4 months before the day itself and thank God everything went well. There were glitches here and there but I think the important parts went extremely well. I would like to grab this opportunity to thank all who have contributed. From the programme arrangements, to filling up the programmes, to hosting the night itself and lastly to the great one above for guiding me through all that. Honestly, I have never single handedly manage such an event. Definitely a good learning experience for me. Here is a family portrait of my loving family :)

Love from yours truly.

Happy New Year 2013!

Hi! :)

Happy new year 2013! It has been quite some time since there is anything going on here. Honestly, I almost forgot about the existence of the blog until a friend was talking to me and I went...."Oh ya kan! I do have a blog pula kan!". So, I decided to pay this place a visit to clean up the cobwebs.

So, speaking of new year, entirely new chapter in the book of life. Year 2012 has not been entirely great. People got hurt. I got hurt. I hurt people. Not a year I would be very proud of. Last year was full of emotion turmoil. However bad it was, like they always say, setiap kejadian ada hikmahnya. Nonetheless, good things happened in the same year too. At the end of the day, there is definitely a lesson to learn. Let's just thank God for every laughter and tears.

Good riddance 2012. Welcome 2013.

Yours truly.
